JESWRI x ADIDAS is a dream come true

ll my life I was surrounded by brave, independent, intelligent, strong women. My biggest influence for this piece was my mum, she raised both me and my sister alone whilst escaping horrible domestic violence. Not only sheltering us but our adopted siblings equally with the help of my Nan. My mum has always been a fighter and she’s always been a massive influence on my life as well as my art career. Whether it’s my wife, my sister, my nan, my friends or my mum; I’m so appreciative of all the women in my life because they all inspire me to be the best me I can possibly be.

This mural is for Karan Lewis. A first nations woman from born and raised in Gadigal Country. My mum travelled the world before she had me at 41 years old. Both me and my sister Ash were raised by both my Mum & my Nan Elsie. Mum has spent her entire life putting herself second. She’s always been the sole-parent figure in my life after my father emotionally checked out very early in our lives. She’s always been the first to serve and the last one to eat. My mum has battled with her mental health for most of her life, but she’s still the most caring and hands down the bravest person I’ve ever met, I’ve seen her run in front of semi-trailers to stop our family dog. I’ve seen her stand up to bullies both inside and outside of the family and I’ve seen her fight her way into the backseat of a cop car. My mum is a fighter. She’s my inspiration and the reason why I got into art and the reason why I pursued it as a career.
